The Propinquity of Ours

The Much awaited IPL 2 is in the air now where bigwigs, those who had no link to cricket before, are trying their luck and money in the gentle man’s game.It is claimed that new budding cricketers are getting chance to show their talent on this platform.Indians, whose love for cricket was never in disguise, are also rejoicing. Moreover,BCCI is standing tall with its chest boasting of high revenues and TRP which make other boards envied(England is thinking about its own league like IPL).No doubt, none of these pose a threat to us Indians.
But there is one thing which causes my heart to sink low during the IPL.I have seen a bit of division in people, supporting their own region’s team, during the IPL.Let me tell you, that I am doing my graduation from NIT(which expands to National Institute of Technology) and thanks to Jawaharlal Nehru’s arcane thinking(It has been changed now to more generously reward merit) which makes sure that their is a bit of every part of India in every NIT(Bit of our neighbours too like Nepal,Bhutan etc).So We have footprints from every different soil of India. There exist a propinquity in us:eating together, laughing in chorus, partying together and chatting with girls in unity. We cherish each other’s traditions and ideosyncrasies(Gandhiji’s soul might be blessing us !).Until IPL starts.
During IPL,a wave of same state divides the friends.Bros supporting the same team exist in some sort of clinch and others find a backspace. The Strengths and weakness of different teams becomes talk of the town.Even the couple updates(most famous among dudes) plays the second fiddle.Till here, the changes by IPL is innocuous. But the threshold breaks when these talks leap into altercations.Where each side tries to win its own virtual world created by IPL.Though the arguments are ephemeral and then we again unite, the very division between us is a cause of concern. While we curse Bal Thackeray and Varun Gandhi,we suddenly become another mini Bal Thackeray when provoked by things like IPL.I do not seek changing team names or halting the whole IPL itself.I seek None like that. What I wish to attain is,to change the parochial thinking that exists somewhere in our pea sized brain.Though, the problem is not so grandiose that it yearns an immediate concern. But a small storm makes a tycoon.Hence, forget the states and love cricket for its game and nothing else.Do not allow “Unity in Diversity” crumble to ashes so easily.
Let the Propinquity of Ours,Flourish....

  1. wellmy frnd, its very easy to say that IPL is creating a rift, but actually it isn't.now if it would have done the same, the second season wouldn't have happenned.the Unity in diversity is not going to be affected in near future.
